So, today we will try to install the cooling system in the satellite receiver Samsung DSR 9500 (photo 1). It's a good medium-class sat receiver but it has some construction defects, namely defects in the cooling system. You will ask, why? Everything is plain: some chips of satellite receiver Samsung DSR 9500 emit warmth during operation. Though there are slits in the cover of Samsung DSR 9500 it is not enough for working of satellite receiver in proper conditions. In such hard conditions receiver Samsung DSR 9500 can not operate for long time. Receivers Samsung DSR 9500 with such defects are often brought to our office for repair. Overheating leads to breakages of the chip Conexant HM122T (see photo) and processors too.
The process of installation is easy. The control board is placed near pcmcia connector (photo 2). There is no pcmcia connector on the photo but it doesn't matter (photo 3).
Temperature sensor element should be placed near the tuner board (photo 4) and (photo 5).
It is easy to get to the control board if you want to configurate it (see photo 6). Temperature sensor element and control board are distinctly seen on the photo 7.
Then let's start the installation of coolers. The first cooler is linked to the connector on photo 8. The second connector is for linking the second cooler (photo 8).
The result of long tests has showed that only one cooler is necessary. But if your receiver Samsung DSR 9500 operates in hard conditions, there always remains the possibility of installation of the second cooler, it is not necessary to programme again the control board.
The cooler should be fixed on the cover case of Samsung DSR 9500 (photo 9). Top view on photo 10.
After such a small modernization of satellite receiver Samsung DSR 9500 it can operate twenty-four hours a day or it can be left standby for all day long.
The temperature doesn't rise above 45 degree. When the temperature falls till defined limit, the cooler switches off.
