Dreambox, repair of LCD cable

Today we would like to write about not very frequent but nevertheless existing problem as torn LCD cable (photo 1).

Certainly, this can happen very seldom. Mainly it happens with the new buyers of dreambox receiver. The cause is commonplace: careless disassembling of dreambox case during the installation of HDD. The new LCD costs too high – 50$ (with the big parties it can be less expensive). But the article is about how we can restore the cable ourselves.
The cable can be torn in the very improper places. You should carefully examine the place of breach. If it is not serrated you can stick the two parts together. You should put together the two parts and put thermo scotch on the back part of cable (photo 2,3).

Then you should prepare the cable for soldering (photo 4).

After this you should arm yourself with patience and solder two parts of the torn cable with the help of the thin wire (photo 5).

You should solder it very carefully in order not to overheat and try to prevent electric wire closings between cable conductors.
In result the cable is restored completely and it can be placed back (photo 6).

The cable can be also torn in the place of its fixing to the mother board. The repair is also possible (photo 7,8,9,10).

In conclusion we would like to point out that in such a way a great number of the torn cables have been restored. Such kind of problem can appear only at new buyers of Dreambox receivers during the installation of HDD. If you don’t have patience and don’t know how to open the receiver case carefully we suggest you to leave this work for people who get their hand in it.
